The Thomas Jefferson Wine Festival is back again on Saturday, November 16! It’ll be a fantastic time to commemorate the founding father of Virginia wine and maybe even find a new favorite. Here’s why we think you’ll love it.
Lots of Wine Options
Over a dozen of Virginia’s finest wineries and cideries will be present to offer a wonderful tasting experience. To name just a few, Rebec Vineyards, The Williamsburg Winery, Peaks of Otter Winery, Jefferson Vineyards, Chateau Morrisette Winery and Cobbler Mountain Cider will be there to showcase the fruits of their labor.
Live Entertainment
A fall wine festival wouldn’t be complete without live music. Local bands Wylder and Rendezvous will be present to entertain you as you peruse the selection of wines, food and local exhibits.
Local Vendors
We love local artisans and small businesses in Lynchburg, and this wine festival is another great opportunity to see what the talent of Lynchburg is producing for our enjoyment and our taste buds. Among these vendors will be Brother Jake’s Brick Oven Creations, Farmacy, Gregory’s Grill, Sophie Adams Art, Wire Wrapping & Beading by Renee and Robert Smith and Barry Tuggle Leatherwork and Carved Decor. So if you’d like to get a head start on your holiday shopping, this is a great place and time to do it!
Poplar Forest Property
Poplar Forest was Thomas Jefferson’s Bedford County retreat home, which he designed himself. The preservation and interpretation of this beautiful plantation and its rich history has been a primary goal of its keepers. In fact, proceeds from this festival go towards restoring, maintaining and improving this historic landmark. Poplar Forest has always been known as a beautiful place to visit with its colorful and pleasing scenery and unique design, which is why Mr. Jefferson loved it so. During this festival, you’ll be able to experience the aesthetic pleasures and living history of this retreat home, rain or shine, as you take advantage of everything the Wine Festival has to offer in the comfort of large, heated tents on the lawn.
Meet Mr. Jefferson
VIP passes are available for this festival, with which you’ll be able to access a private tent, enjoy hor d’oeuvres made by Avenue Foods and experience an exclusive wine tasting. To top it off, you’ll be able to meet Mr. Jefferson himself, a reenactor who has spent his entire career studying the Founding Father who penned the Declaration of Independence and became America’s third President, and passing his knowledge on to eager history buffs and story lovers. But hurry to buy these passes, as they are available for advance purchase only and won’t last.
The Thomas Jefferson Wine Festival will take place on Saturday, November 16 from 11 AM-5 PM. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary opportunity for entertainment, wine tasting, shopping and historical appreciation! Purchase tickets at the Poplar Forest website today!
