Leesville Lake Campground
Located in Gretna, VA, near Route 29, Leesville Lake Campground is situated around a 17-mile-long lake with plenty of opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming and other water sports. Its 40 acres contain plenty of camping spaces complete with full RV hookups, a swimming pool, nature trails through the woods and a playground.
Lynchburg/Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Campground
KOA is a popular national campground company that has over 500 locations throughout North America. The closest one to Lynchburg is the Lynchburg/Blue Ridge Parkway campground located in Monroe, VA. It offers a comprehensive list of amenities and camping options, such as tent areas, RV setups and even cabins. It also offers outdoor entertainment such as a Jump Pad and a fishing pond. There’s even a designated dog park called Kamp K-9! This campground is centrally located so as to provide easy access to sites such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Peaks of Otter, the National D-Day Memorial, and historic Lynchburg.
Lynchburg RV Resort
If RV’s are your mainstay for camping, then the Lynchburg RV Resort in Gladys, VA, is for you! A seasonal campground that operates from May to October, this resort provides full amenities of 30-amp hookup sites, a lake, a pool and spa, events such as movie nights and games such as ping-pong and mini golf. Some nearby destinations include Natural Bridge State Park and the historic Lynchburg area.
Otter Creek Campground
Part of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s trail and camp system, Otter Creek Campground is located by Otter Lake near the James River. It offers both reservable and first-come-first-serve campgrounds, and includes amenities like indoor plumbing, picnic areas, food lockers and a dump station. Some activities include the local nature trails and fishing in the lake.
Peaks of Otter Campground
Also a part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Peaks of Otter Campground is located in a valley between two large mountains. Campsites have lots of tree coverage and include campfire rings, indoor plumbing, grills, lantern poles and a dump station. It has a whopping 63 campsites available for advance reservation and 79 first-come-first-serve sites, along with RV hookups.
