Ever wonder why you’ve seen so many LOVEworks across the state of Virginia? These creative sculptures and artworks are a part of the larger state tourism slogan, Virginia is for Lovers. You can also find many different LOVEworks, both big and small and varying in theme across Lynchburg. Check out where to see them below!
Percival’s Island – This artwork is one of the first, and biggest LOVEworks which can be found at the entrance of one of LYH’s many trails, Percival’s Island. bike, stroll, or run along this scenic trail by the James River. Dining options close by are Waterstone Pizza, the water Dog and Depot Grille.
Craddock Terry Hotel – This sign is written on a high heel shoe in front of the historic Craddock Terry Hotel, which was once a well-known shoe factory. Stroll down Main Street for some shopping and dining experiences.
Isabella’s Italian Trattoria – This LOVEWorks was finished in 2023 by artist Paul Clements. It’s bright yellow color and lights inside invite customers to their restaurant and encourage a photo opportunity.
University of Lynchburg – Located on their beautiful campus Dell, this sign pays homage to the history of the university when it was Lynchburg College. The “L” and “O” are highlighted strategically in red to represent “LC” for Lynchburg College.
Black Water Creek Trail, Ed Page Entrance – This sign is out when Nomad Coffee is open. It’s a smaller sign that was created by covering it in coffee beans. Check out their hours of operation so you can grab a delicious specialty drink and see this sign before going for a stroll!
Mellow Mushroom – Grab some pizza and a pic at the LOVEworks located in Cornerstone at Mellow Mushroom.
Hill City Donuts – This LOVEworks is found on the side of the building at Hill City Donuts. It’s a painted mural featuring a donut as the “O” keeping theme with the shop. be sure to stop in for their delicious donuts and coffee, and, keep an eye out for their weekly gluten free day.
